KSMQ is hiring an Administrative Coordinator.

KSMQ Public Television is the Austin-based PBS television licensee serving more than 709,000 viewers in southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa. We are a nonprofit, 501c3 organization that creates award-winning media content and broadcasts quality programming free over-the-air on four television channels, over the Internet, and mobile devices via the KSMQ app. Construction is presently underway on KSMQ’s new, fully funded $5.1 million broadcast facility in downtown Austin. This will be our new home beginning in 2022.

Position Description: Reporting to the President/CEO, the Administrative Coordinator works with KSMQ team members to ensure effective communication between the organization and the external funding agencies with which we do business. This will primarily involve monitoring development activities, timelines, budgets and deliverables to ensure contract compliance.

Candidate must be able to problem solve and find solutions which are in the best interest of the Company with limited supervision. This position involves access to financial and other sensitive information: candidate must be able to maintain strict confidentiality in these matters.  

This position work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday; however, a few special events each year will require work at other times. Duties also include welcoming visitors to the KSMQ facility and performing certain office tasks. This position is located in the KSMQ Public Television facility. This is not a remote position.  


  • Works with CEO to maintain grant compliance.
  • Develops strong relationships with funding agency personnel and key customers.
  • Assists with account tracking for Underwriting and Market Partnership departments.
  • Routes station communication and follows up on same.
  • Determines building access for visitors to the KSMQ facility.
  • Monitors KSMQ over-the-air signal from workstation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Minimum Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.
Two years in a professional office setting.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.
Financial reporting or accounting experience preferred.
Experience with non-profit organizations and mission driven work preferred.
Demonstrated ability to build trust and maintain respectful professional relationships.                 
Must be proficient in English, both written and spoken.
Displays a professional, businesslike manner at all times.
Possesses the ability to sit or stand at a desk for eight hours each day.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 14 kg.

Digital Content Producer

KSMQ is hiring for a Digital Content Producer position.

KSMQ Public Television is a non-profit broadcaster that provides essential media content and other services to over 700,000 residents in 22 counties in southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa.

We are looking for a highly energetic, organized professional interested in making short documentaries and assisting in the creation of other TV programming. The Digital Content Producer will help KSMQ build on its solid foundation of delivering content to a wider audience as well as our immediate and surrounding communities.

Job Summary:

The Digital Content Producer will be expected to create video stories with an emphasis on programming for the web and to be able to assist in other TV productions. The Digital Content Producer will also be the content editor of our web page and social media pages.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Assistance with production of our programs (producing, videography, and editing);
  • Upload programming to KSMQ social media outlets;
  • Producing and editing promotions and short form video stories for the web;
  • Assist with live-streaming events;
  • Keep an eye out for new ways to share KSMQ programming digitally;
  • Manage the development, activation, upkeep and advancement of all KSMQ Public Television digital and social media engagement across all platforms including Passport, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and possibly others;
  • Online feedback and data collection;
  • Organize online feedback and impact events;
  • Manage troubleshooting of any technical issues relating to all social digital efforts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in television, mass communication, marketing, or digital media preferred;
  • Experience with producing short form video stories;
  • Media file management experience;
  • Passion for social media and thorough skills and strategic understanding of social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube;
  • Computer literacy required (Word, Outlook, Excel);
  • Video editing experience (preferably Final Cut X);

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication and writing skills;
  • Strong collaboration skills and “team player” attitude;
  • Ability for independent thought, problem-solving skills and the foresight to involve others when needed;
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment;
  • Accuracy and reliability for exceptional attention to detail;
  • Even temperament, especially when working under tight deadlines;
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50#, and have the ability to perform physical functions as required;
  • Be a self-starter, show initiative;
  • MMJ experience a plus;
  • Drone license also a plus.
